A new psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU) designed by Focus Consultants features in the current edition of The Network – the journal of The Design in Mental Health Network.

The development is Lincolnshire’s first psychiatric intensive care unit and is due to open in Lincoln in summer 2017.

Providing a ten-bed unit offering intensive support closer to home for those with severe mental health problems, it is being built by Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

Focus designed the scheme using Building Information Modelling (BIM) and is principal designer, designer, quantity surveyor and contract administrator for the development of the male-only unit.

“This feature in The Network is shining a spotlight on the work that Focus Consultants undertakes within the health sector and is very informative for those organisations keen to learn more about best-practice design of such developments,”

said Andy White, senior project manager at Focus Consultants.

“We are very pleased to be helping to build Lincolnshire’s first PICU and are delighted that it has been featured in a journal such as The Network, which is read by those who are interested in the design of mental health facilities.”
