Nottingham Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall is important to the cultural life of Nottingham and the East Midlands, and respected in the national arts landscape. The Theatre Royal is a 1,186 seat Victorian playhouse while the Royal Concert Hall is a 2,500 seat music venue.
Focus undertook a High Level Masterplan to secure the long term sustainability of the venue – to ensure the facilities meet the needs of audiences of the 21st Century. This focused on all aspects of the business including:
- modernisation of premises and facilities
- energy improvements
- implementing a maintenance programme
- improved equipment for innovative performances
- improving physical and intellectual access
- increasing the flexibility of space
- increased business use
- reaching wider audiences
Following this work, the Theatre Royal and Concert Hall was successful in securing £1.49 million from the Arts Council England to take the full £3.29 million project forward – it is now on site.
