Aerospace Bristol has celebrated a major milestone in the construction of the new home of Concorde, with a topping out ceremony for the museum’s Concorde hangar attended by HRH The Princess Royal.
Focus Consultants is project manager and cost consultant for the development, which is creating a new home for Aerospace Bristol’s star attraction, Concorde 216.
Designed, built and tested in Bristol, she was the last Concorde to be built and the last to fly.
Focus partner Steven Fletcher, who attended the ceremony, said: “Focus Consultants is very proud to be playing a role in this inspiring project, and was delighted to see this milestone celebrated with a Royal visit.”
Aerospace Bristol is due to open in Summer 2017, and as well as offering visitors the chance to see Concorde, will also provide a fascinating journey through time with the history of the South West’s aerospace sector.
HRH The Princess Royal, who is patron of Aerospace Bristol, toured the site and met Aerospace Bristol volunteers, who are working to prepare the exhibits for display in the new museum, and then unveiled the first piece of a feature wall, a specially engraved aeroplane sculpture, to mark the occasion.
