Focus were instructed by North Kesteven District Council to undertake an analysis of their current build specification and assess a variety of different options against a target of Net Zero Carbon. The assessment was to consider several metrics, including energy efficiency, CO2 emissions, Cost, Comfort and overall performance.

Focus assessed a variety of approaches covering fabric, services, and renewables, and through a process of elimination (working with the client) arrived at a number of potential specification options. As well as the Zero Carbon Energy Assessment undertaken with SAP and PHPP methodology, Focus also provided detailed cost analysis, Life Cycle Assessment to consider embodied carbon, Thermal Model analysis to ensure comfort for the end user and an appraisal of available renewable technologies

A detailed report was prepared for the client, in which each approach was scored on performance under relative sections, to help provide a balanced result to enable future decisions to be taken. Our commission continues with NKDC.
