Upskill your team with Focus’ bite-size training programmes
Over the past few months, we have been working closely with Saint Gobain, a leader in sustainable construction, to develop a comprehensive training programme aimed at upskilling their teams on energy related issues within the built environment.
With over 15 years’ experience advising clients on topics such as developing sustainable strategies, achieving “Excellent” BREEAM ratings on new-build projects, advising on retrofit roll outs and complying with increasingly stricter building regulations, the Assess division have acquired a wealth of knowledge. We are passionate about the role of collaborative working in meeting Net Zero Carbon targets and enabling the construction industry to move forward as one and so as a result we are keen to share our expertise with construction teams on the ground.
At Focus we have developed a training programme that simplifies complex terminology allowing us to deliver the topics in a clear concise manner so that everyone understands what needs to do be done to meet these targets and just as important, to embrace their company’s vision for a more sustainable built environment.
We can tailor the programme to suit, but generally attendees will learn about:
- U Values – understand how to assess and improve the thermal performance of various elements in the built environment, such as walls, roofs, and windows.
- SAP – the key factors that influence SAP calculations, including energy efficiency measures, heating systems, and renewable technologies.
- Fabric Energy Efficiency – how to optimise the thermal performance of a building’s fabric, including insulation, air tightness, and thermal bridging, to reduce energy consumption and improve comfort.
- Acoustics – how to create spaces that effectively manage noise levels and improve acoustic quality.
- Heating and Ventilation – the various heating and ventilation technologies and their performance in minimising energy consumption and environmental impact.
- Thermal Bridging – how to identify and mitigate thermal bridging issues through effective design and construction techniques, essential for improving energy efficiency and avoiding condensation and mould problems.
- Building Regulations Update – the legal requirements and compliance procedures ensuring that their projects align with the current regulations.
By covering these topics in-depth, the training program equips participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to address energy-related challenges, meet sustainability targets, and contribute to the creation of a more environmentally conscious built environment.
‘In a fast moving world, Focus strives to be at the cutting edge of our sector, this invariably means we need to support and educate our clients in a variety of subjects. We strongly believe this is our duty, to share knowledge for the betterment of the built environment and be a positive influence in the fight against climate change. Our commission with Saint Gobain reflects that drive and we were understandably proud to support the OSS team.’
Jason Redfearn, Managing Partner at Focus Consultants 2010 LLP
“The team at Focus delivered a program of bitesize modules to a range of our Saint-Gobain Off-Site Solutions employees from various business functions, to help keep us informed of the key topics and challenges facing our industry and our customers in relation to sustainability and building performance. The training sessions were very informative and well-tailored to the activities of our businesses, and our employees are now better equipped to understand and respond to the needs of our existing and future customers. We have also gained greater insight related to recent and upcoming changes to the building regulations, which will enable us to prepare and get ahead of the curve to help to maintain our position as leaders in light and sustainable construction.”
Gareth Morris, Head of Sustainability at Saint Gobain
