1000 robotic surgeries performed at Solihull Hospital’s Elective Hub

We’re delighted to see Solihull Hospital achieve this extraordinary milestone at their new cutting-edge facility. Delivered by University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, The Elective Hub is setting new standards in patient care with cutting edge surgical technology and expanded treatment capacity.

Focus are proud to have played a key part in this transformative project that delivers six state-of-the-art operating theatres, providing over 11,500 additional procedures annually. By incorporating advanced robotics, minimally invasive techniques, and sustainable construction methods, it’s truly a state of the art facility.

Our Assess team delivered key sustainability services to ensure the Hub not only meets patient needs, but also aligns with the Trust’s environmental goals. Using advanced modelling tools and working closely with the design team, we helped deliver a facility that combines innovation, comfort, and sustainability.

At Design Stage, we assisted the design team in ensuring the project met stringent energy efficiency and carbon emission standards as required by Building Regulations Part L v2.

Our Thermal Comfort Assessments created optimal environments for patients and staff in the hospital’s diverse spaces, each with their own occupancy patterns –  ranging from Consulting Rooms, Staff Rooms, and Wards to Laboratories, and Operating Theatres. Our dynamic thermal model was 3D modelled using IESVE software and utilised the ApacheSim, MacroFlo and VistaPro tabs of the software to assign and view the results.

Focus’ Low and Zero Carbon Technology Feasibility Studies explored renewable energy options that was suitable for the site.

Once the building was completed, we reviewed the final specifications against our Design Stage dynamic model and lodged the EPC.
