Future Homes Standard Nears
There has been a ramping up of news in relation to the Future Homes Standard, with several government announcements indicating the long-awaited feedback on consultation due first quarter 2026. Linked to this Focus welcomes the recent clarification on how compliance will be measured during the early phase of its rollout. With the government confirming that SAP 10.3 will be the sole assessment methodology at launch. This early certainty should give some comfort to our clients, knowing that the established approach with SAP will remain in place while wider changes are still being finalised.
Home Energy Model (HEM) Transition
These wider changes linked to HEM will be introduced later, we understand no sooner than three months after the initial FHS launch. This delay, twinned with the continuing use of SAP 10.3 is good news and should allow the industry to have a smoother transition, which is supported with a minimum two‑year overlap between SAP 10.3 and the new HEM software.
Focus ready to Support with SAP 10.3 and HEM
Getting to grips with SAP 10.3 will play an important role in preparing the sector for the first stage of the Future Homes Standard. As further systems and software emerge to support the Home Energy Model, and through this transition period Focus will continue to provide clear, practical support to clients on specification choices, so they can have confidence in delivering quality new homes.
