Focus were appointed to provide BREEAM Assessor Services for a new library building, situated on the University’s Brackenhurst Campus in rural Nottinghamshire. The development incorporated a large open plan library resource area, with individual and group learning rooms, a small office and staff kitchen to the rear.
Focus provided advice on the impact on the BREEAM assessment of specification changes that occurred as the project developed. Timely appointment during the early design phases of the project enabled the assessment to achieve a number of the credits associated with early RIBA phase actions. This also enabled the project team to ensure that all mandatory requirements were included within the project specification.
Focus provided monthly updates to ensure evidence was gathered in a timely manner and ensure the BREEAM objectives remained at the fore. Focus maintains a good working relationship with the BRE, which enabled this project to be reviewed and certified through the BRE QA team in their scheduled time frame.
