Focus were appointed by Nottingham Trent University to provide Sustainability Consultant Services for the new building at the Confetti Media Institute in the Nottingham Creative Quarter Campus. In addition to acting as Confetti’s headquarters and main reception, the development features studios, labs and classrooms, a Learning Resource Centre, a contemporary café and a rooftop terrace, providing a welcoming and creative environment for students from school leavers to postgraduates.

As BREEAM Sustainability Champion, Focus provided frequent updates, to remind the project team of the BREEAM objectives set for the development, and create one of the top three environmentally sustainable buildings in Nottingham, achieving BREEAM ‘Excellent Status’.

The new facility is clad in Cor-Ten streel and dark brickwork, echoing the appearance of existing industrial buildings on the Confetti campus. It also features an environmentally-friendly green or ‘living roof’ area made up of plants, which reduces storm water run-off and provides a wildlife habitat.
