Focus were appointed as Lead and Principal Designer on this £9 million project commissioned jointly by Derbyshire Constabulary and the Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service.
It provides a centralised, dedicated training resource combined with a new 50m firing range, as well as traditional classroom to create as close as possible ‘real world’ experiences for Force staff.
Built at the site of the constabulary’s headquarters in Ripley, the premises include a new two-storey training building with an attached three double-bay vehicle garage and associated training buildings for Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service, along with fire behaviour simulation training facilities, training towers and search and rescue facilities.
The open plan setting allows employees from police and fire to work side by side, giving them the opportunity to learn from each other and explore joint initiatives and ways of working.
