Focus were appointed by East Lindsey District Council to refresh the Skegness Foreshore Master Plan and provide an indicative design for the redevelopment of key sites along Skegness Foreshore.
Following concepts developed by Focus and heritage architects, Guy Taylor Associates, the masterplan, which was adopted by East Lindsey District Council, set out five priorities:
- Improving the foreshore offer
- Opening up underused areas of the foreshore
- Private sector investment
- Visitor welcome and experience
- Seaside nostalgia.
The plan included proposals to improve the gateway to the foreshore through a series of public realm improvements to Tower Esplanade as well as a number of potential projects and uses for underused areas of the foreshore, including the bowling greens on South Parade as an outdoor flexible event space; the disused beach huts near the pier as pop-up restaurants and the former Festival Pavilion site as a location for a landmark structure.
