The brief for the project was to produce an ‘inside out’ theatre whereby the public’s experience of theatre is not just limited to the performances which are held, but extends to open up the experience of how theatre is made.
Focus assisted Leicester City Council to secure the project funding and managed and coordinated all communications and drawdowns with funders, including Arts Council England and ERDF. As Project Manager and Contract Administrator for the delivery of the project, Focus steered the project through the design stages onto site, with careful coordination of the specialist fit out and base build.
The walls to the main stage area of the 1,000 seat theatre are all movable, offering flexibility and provision for two stages, alongside conference and education facilities. The theatre is continuing an active partnership participation programme so that students can learn, experience, utilise and participate in the running and operation of Curve.
