Focus were appointed to develop the Feasibility Study to progress the Aerospace Bristol Centre at Filton Airfield. Having successfully constructed a set of project requirements including funding packages, key stakeholder partners, and outline design, we were then retained to develop and deliver the project through to completion.
The project consisted of two WW1 listed hangars that were refurbished to provide an aviation heritage museum, workshop and full visitor facilities. A new building houses Concorde, related exhibition, STEM learning centre and corporate facilities. Throughout the facility, hands-on, interactive exhibits allow visitors to explore and discover science and engineering.
The project stakeholders included Rolls-Royce, BAE Systems, Airbus, Bristol Airport, South Gloucestershire Council and Bristol City Council. There were also many funding partners, including the HLF, the LEP and independent trusts, foundations and private individuals. A key part of Focus’ role was to support in the management of this multi-headed partnership and to provide specialist support to the complex funding process underpinning the delivery of the scheme.
