The wide-ranging scheme includes the renewal of the main east roof and the stabilisation of the Chapter House environment to preserve the stonework together with lighting and under floor heating plus a cantilever lifting platform. The conservation involves the environmental monitoring of their location, a stone conservator to assess their condition and perform any necessary conservation works, a new heating system to regulate their long-term preservation and sensitive lighting to enhance the visitor experience. Through high level academic interpretation and research these important historical carvings and areas of the wider Minster will be preserved, and more diverse audiences will be able to learn from them.
Focus are providing project management services, working with a core Minster team and wider volunteer representatives, to ensure efficient delivery while managing the daily requirements of a working Cathedral to ensure minimal disruption.
Focus have also been asked to review the wider estate at the Minster, undertaking a condition survey and also considering the carbon impact as the client team move towards net zero carbon.
