Repair and renovation works to building fabric and provision of new office, kitchen and event spaces, will enable St. Mary’s to become a busy, useful building for the local community.
Following our appointment as Project Manager, Focus reviewed any previous work carried out as well as roles and responsibilities to achieve a successful NLHF round two application. We then procured remaining team members and established a programme, risk register and overall budget.
The church’s tower, with panoramic views of Walthamstow, is one of the building’s best-known features with earliest records dating back to 1431. Although the parish church is not at risk, the nave roof repairs were listed as urgent in the 2015 Quinquennial report, comprising repair works to the lead flashing, pointing and broken slates all of which had led to considerable water ingress over time.
These repairs were vital to the future of St. Mary’s, a future which now includes an improved events programme and celebration of the building’s heritage.
