The existing Bristol Industrial Museum has been developed into the new Museum of Bristol using Bristol’s designated collections to tell the rich story of the city through displays centred on issues which have been important to Bristol’s history, are still relevant today and will be part of shaping the city’s future.
Focus were appointed as Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor on the National Lottery Heritage Fund funded £25 million new Museum of Bristol – MSHED – to complete the regeneration of Bristol’s historic harbourside. With £10.3 million of HLF funding MSHED uses Bristol’s designated collections to tell the rich story of the City in an extensively remodelled and refurbished quayside industrial museum, with exhibition fit-out.
MSHED won the “Best Community Building” award in the Local Authority West of England region and was nominated for “Museum of the Year” by the Art Fund Charity, just missing out to another Focus project – the Royal Albert Memorial Museum in Exeter.
