The high level masterplan focused on modernisation of premises and facilities, making energy improvements, implementing a maintenance programme, improved equipment for innovative performances, improving physical and intellectual access, increasing the flexibility of space, increased business use, and reaching wider audiences.

Focus lead the masterplan to secure the long term sustainability of the venue and ensure it met the needs of audiences of the 21st Century.  Following this work NTRCH was successful in securing Arts Council England funding along with the requisite match funding to take the project through design stages and onto site.  Focus was the lead consultant throughout the development and delivery.

The project has provided an improved linkage between the two venues, a new roof terrace and café, refurbished function rooms, improvements to the front of the Concert Hall to improve the ticket office and entrance and a new street-level outdoor seating area for the Royal Concert Hall bars.
